To become a certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) in Florida, you typically follow these steps: Obtain a high school diploma or GED Complete a medical assistant training program from an accredited institution in Florida. These programs cover medical terminology, clinical procedures, administrative tasks, and patient care ethics. Complete an externship if required by the program, gaining practical experience. Pass a national certification exam. The common certifications for Clinical Medical Assistants include: American Medical Certification Association (AMCA) Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) by the National Healthcareer Association (NHA) Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) by the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) by American Medical Technologists (AMT)[ Each certification has eligibility requirements related to education and/or work experience. After certification, maintain it through continuing education.
